Welcome to the time of cavemen and primitive living! In this unit, we will be focusing on building maps and other social studies skills we will use throughout the year. Our study of the eastern hemisphere starts with the origins of man. From what we can tell, our species started in modern day Africa. It was here that early man developed writing, the use of tools, spoken languages, fire, and agriculture. From our primitive beginnings in Africa, we spread out over the globe settling in areas that support life. Here we developed towns, governments and most importantly farms. This unit is broken up into two major sections the, Paleolithic Era and Neolithic Era.
